Justine A. Risinger

Justine A. Risinger, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday evening, September 30, 2006 at her home.Born March 26, 1930 in Newell, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Ina G. (McCormick) Green. After graduating from Wells High School in 1948, she continued her formal education at Ohio Valley Business College in East Liverpool graduating in 1949. Justine moved to New Philadelphia in 1960. She began her professional career as “The Shoe Lady” at Siffs Shoe Store in Dover. From there, she went to work at Fashion Barn in Miracle Lane Plaza, Daniels Ladies Apparel and then Tom McCans in New Philadelphia before retiring in 1982. While the community that knew Justine will remember her as “The Shoe Lady” she will always be remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their friends as “Ma”.Justine had a great deal of passion for her family and their interests. She was always in attendance at their activities and enjoyed traveling throughout the country and internationally with them. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also spent numerous hours playing cards by herself and with friends. Her legacy of love will continue in her family and they will long remember her as a giving and straight-forward individual.Justine is survived by her daughter, Vickie Haney of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kristine (fiancé, Bob Light) Haney of Sugarcreek, Ryan (Debbie) Haney of Gnadenhutten, Beth (Jason) Farr of Dover, and Krystian Haney of the home; great-grandchildren, Dilan Haney of Sugarcreek, Gracie Haney of Gnadenhutten, and a Farr baby due in April 2007; one brother, Jay (Mary) Green of Newark; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.In addition to her parents, Justine was preceded in death by her brother William.A memorial service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, a meal will be served in the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home in New Philadelphia.The family requests memorial contributions be made to either Colonial Manor, 441 University Dr. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, OH 44622.
