Junious “JL” LD Fletcher, 86, of New Philadelphia, went home peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2016 in Union Hospital at Dover.
Born in Onia, Arkansas , he was the son of the late Emmitt J. and Ella (Ballentine) Fletcher.
On December 20, 1952, JL married his lifelong companion and servant of God, the former Billie Mae Neely. Together, they raised two children, Pastor Larry (Ruthie) Fletcher of New Philadelphia and Sue (Mark) Burris of Malvern, Arkansas.
In their 24 years of ministry with LifeWay Church (former First Assembly of God) at New Philadelphia, Billie and JL served in a variety of capacities. JL was the visitation pastor and also participated heavily with the food pantry. Many will long remember him as a gentle giant, always filling the room with a big smile and kind heart. JL was also a member of the Gideons for more than 25 years.
JL will be deeply missed by his children; his five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two expectant great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, JL was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Ezekial Kristian Wright; and three siblings.
The family will greet guests on Monday from noon to 1 pm in LifeWay Church at New Philadelphia where a family led memorial celebration of JL’s life will begin at 1 pm. Immediately following the service, all are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the church’s social hall.
The family requests memorial contributions in JL’s name may be directed to LifeWay Church BGMC Project, 742 Cookson Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
