June W. Rippel, age 88, of Mesquite, Texas, and a longtime resident of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Friday, August 9, 2013 under the care of Odyssey Hospice, in the home of her loving daughter and family.
Born at her parent’s New Philadelphia home on June 30, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Ceal and Carrie Mae Biddle Bailey.
A 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, June met and fell in love with a classmate who was born the same month and year as she; the late Robert C. “Bob” Rippel. The couple wed November 4, 1946, and would celebrate forty-five years of marriage prior to his sudden passing on April 6, 1992. Together, they owned and operated the former Rippel Siding Company of New Philadelphia.
June will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother, who devoted much of her time caring for her grandchildren. She spent much of the past two decades as an extended family caregiver of her granddaughter in Texas.
She leaves behind a family that includes her daughter, Carla (husband, William “Bill”) Clinton of Mesquite, Texas, and her son, Brad (wife, Mary Jane) Rippel of Bolivar.
Three grandchildren, Carrieanne Clinton of Mesquite, Texas, Jessica (husband, Adam) Donehue of Powell, Ohio and Tyler (wife, Stacy) Rippel of Bolivar. June’s family is completed with 4 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Piper, and Blaise Donehue, and Micah Rippel. (Great-grandson #5 (Rippel) is expected in November 2013.)
In addition to her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by her two brothers, Donald and Richard Bailey.
Friends are invited to call Friday from 4 to 7 pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Dr. Steve Gerig, of the Bolivar Wesleyan Church will lead June’s funeral service Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel with interment following alongside her husband in Evergreen Burial Park.
A reception for family and friends will be held immediately after graveside services at the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home. All are welcome to come and share memories.
Memorial contributions in June’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
