June E. Stutz, age 95, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Saturday evening, August 15, 2009, in New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover. Born in her grandfather’s home on Tuscarawas Avenue, New Philadelphia, July 1, 1914, she was a daughter of the late London Webster and Emma Florence Beans Miller. As a young lady she attended West Elementary School, then New Philadelphia High School before going to work at the former Belmont Stamping Company, and later as a clerk at Miller’s Grocery and F.W. Woolworth’s stores.She left behind work to be a homemaker, and rear her family, marrying Russell J. Stutz June 28, 1936, also on the grounds of the home in which we she was born. Together they celebrated forty-two years of marriage before his death, January 9, 1979. June was a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, the Golden Circle Christian Fellowship, including a tenure as secretary of the fellowship. She’ll be remembered by her family as a devoted Christian who loved to read and study her Bible. Her hobbies included gardening and playing Canasta. Survivors include her two sons; James E. “Jim” (wife, Jackie) Stutz, and Robert E. “Bob” (wife Marilyn) Stutz, both of New Philadelphia. Four grandchildren; Brian (wife Carolyn) Stutz of Dover, Brent (wife, Melissa) Stutz of Delaware, O., Amy (husband, Kirt) Conrad of Akron, O., and John Stutz, of North Canton, O. Six great-grandchildren; Nathanael and Rachael Stutz, Meredith Conrad and Ryan, Emily and Samantha Stutz, as well as three sisters-in-law; Beverly Cole of Bolivar, Betty Stutz of New Philadelphia, Billie Stutz of Canton, and a brother-in-law; Sam Stutz of Wooster completes the family. In addition to her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by her brothers Robert and Don Miller, as well as her sisters; Doris Kemp and Virginia Gribble, and a nephew; Kenneth Kemp. Friends are invited to call Tuesday evening from 5-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Kelly Paul Brown will lead a service celebrating June’s life Wednesday morning at 11AM in the funeral home’s chapel, where the family will also receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.The Stutz family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 156 Beaver Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
