Julius Radvansky

Julius “Juice” Radvansky, Jr., age 91, of New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Julius and Nora (Goncyi) Radvansky, he was born on December 22, 1921 at Lamira, Ohio.

Julius honorably served his country as a Demolition Specialist as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Upon his return, he worked for a number of years for the former Midvale Coal Mine and ultimately retired in 1989 from Gradall where he was employed as an assembler.

As a young man, Julius played the violin with the “Three Buckeyes” who were featured a number of times on WWVA Radio. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Ohio State Buckeye and the Cleveland Browns.

In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking, often putting his skills to use as he made custom cabinets and clocks.

Julius is survived by a son, Gary (Sandy) Radvansky, two grandchildren, Robbi and Debbi; a sister, Emma Pulcask of St. Clairsville; special nieces, Beverly (Gary) Shirbish of Washington, Marianne (Steve) Hackler of Texas, Elaine Yoblinski of St. Clairsville as well as many other nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by his wife Anastacia “Nell” Radvansky, a sister, Helen Hadzima and his special friend and companion, Hilda Betche.

A special thank you is extended to the many caregivers Julius has had at New Dawn over the past years and to the staff of Community Hospice. Your love and attention provided great peace during his final time with us.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday, December 19, 2013, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service led by Pastor Max Canfield will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
