Julie Fisher

March 23, 1943 — December 20, 2013

Julie Anne Fisher, 70, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, December 20, 2013 in Country Club Nursing Home at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Tom Dickerson and the late Theresa (Marshall) Ripley, Julie was born March 23, 1943 at Dover, Ohio.

Julie graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1961 and was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dover. In 1975, Julie and her late husband, Jerry, opened Fisher Flooring and served the area for more than 35 years. She was also a long time member of a card club along with many dear friends.

Family was her life and she took great pride in caring for her children and later her grandchildren. Julie’s generosity went beyond just caring for her family. She also enjoyed taking care of the neighborhood children often providing them with home cooked meals and other snacks.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Jenny) Fisher of Bloomington, Indiana, Michael (Pimlapha) Fisher of New Philadelphia and a daughter, Kathy (Greg) Shaw of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Mallory and Marshall Fisher, John Fellure, Nellie, Ryan, Michal and Leeanne Shaw and Bank Fisher; an aunt, Norma Schmeling of Guthrie Center, Iowa and a cousin, Judy Johnson of Johnstown, Iowa.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Lee Fisher who passed away on September 21, 2009 and her grandparents, Roy and Minnie Marshall.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Julie’s life will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Donald Rice Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
