Judith L. “Judy” Yoder, age 70, of Dover, passed away peacefully early Monday in her home. Born January 29, 1941 at Dover, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer Schweitzer Wright and Helen Lucille Brown Wright. A 1959 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Judy attended Kent State University before marrying her high school sweetheart, George Yoder. The couple wed November 26, 1960, and relocated to Missouri while he completed his service in the United States Air Force. Once back in the Tuscarawas Valley, the couple set up housekeeping in the Hummel Valley for nearly forty years. Judy was a homemaker for most of her life, but after rearing her family, found time to work in the former Yum-Yum Tree and later Gorant Chocolates. An active member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Judy enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and helping in a variety of volunteer capacities. She’ll be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed reading and gardening as well as cheering on her Cleveland Indians. Survivors, in addition to her husband, George, of the home, include their two children; Chris (wife, Julie) Yoder of Gahanna, and Beth (husband, Scott) Miller of Dover. She’ll be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jordan Lee Miller and Grant William Miller, both of Dover. A sister-in-law, Marianne Wright of Dover, and numerous nieces, and nephews complete the family. In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Wright. Friends are invited to call Wednesday, March 16, from 2-4 and from 6-8 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor William Sowers will lead Mrs. Yoder’s funeral service Thursday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadway United Methodist Church, 120 Church Street SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
