Juanita Faye Crites

Juanita Faye Crites, 77, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, January 22, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover.

A daughter of the late Russell Dewey and Florence Irene (Kiser) Hobart, Juanita was born January 24, 1932 in Goshen Township, Ohio.

Juanita was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and for many years she owned and operated Peg’s Beauty Shop at New Philadelphia. She enjoyed gardening and was very talented when it came to sewing, crocheting and cooking. Juanita even made her own furniture on occasion. She was also an advocate for the Tuscarawas County Standing Up for Downs Syndrome organization.

Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Clare Eugene “Bull” Crites of the home; her children, James (Patty) Erwin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeannie (Hunk) Tarleton of Newport, Ohio, Joni Erwin of Globe, Arizona and Jeff (Julie) Erwin of New Philadelphia; step children, Linda Cross of New Philadelphia, Jackie Vosick and John Scott both of Uhrichsville. Completing the family are her grandchildren, Kari (Jason) Galigher, Kody (Alyssa) Murphy, Kaleb and Markie Tarleton, Rebekah and Kevin Gundy and Emily Erwin; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gene (Pat) Hobart of New Philadelphia.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mark Crites.

In keeping with Juanita’s wishes cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. There will be no calling hours and a private family service will be held with inurnment taking place in St. James Cemetery at Tuscarawas.
