Juanita Bates

Juanita L. Bates, 75, of Stone Creek, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John and Bernice (Isenogle) Wyler, Juanita was born November 3, 1943 in her childhood home at Stone Creek, Ohio.

Juanita graduated from Stone Creek High School and then continued her education by attending business school at New Philadelphia. Upon completing her business schooling, she went to work for Rea & Associates at New Philadelphia and retired after serving the company for 50 years.

She was a lifelong resident of Stone Creek having resided only a quarter of a mile from where she was born. Juanita was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former Stone Creek Village Council Woman. Juanita was also a longtime member of Kustom Kemps Car Club along with her late husband, Donald.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Miller of Port Washington; sisters-in-law, Peggy Wyler of West Lafayette and Donna (Bob) Cooper of Akron; a brother-in-law, Richard Schlarb of Bakersville; a niece and three nephews, Debbie (Donald McVay) Adams of West Lafayette and David (Joy) Miller of Minonk, Illinois, Dale (Cheryl) Miller of Cedar Grove, Indiana and Dale (Kim) Schlarb of Newcomerstown; several great-nieces and great-nephews; two God Children, Joshua Miller of Austin, Texas and Daniel Miller of Bloomington, Illinois; a step-daughter, Kay (Mark) Erwin of South Carolinia and several step-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald E. Bates whom she married on December 23, 1977; a sister, June Schlarb; a brother, Donald Wyler and a brother-in-law, Frank Miller.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Juanita’s life will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Stone Creek. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery.
