Joyce E. Reicosky, 69, of Cadiz died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, Sep. 5, 2008 in Harrison Community Hospital at Cadiz, Ohio. She was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Massillon, O., to the late A. Nelson and Pearl Witts Barr. Joyce was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School at Massillon, Ohio and a proud member of the Massillon Tiger Swing Band which marched in the 1956 Rose Parade at Pasadena, California. Joyce was also a member of the Massillon Tiger Alumni Band. She was a graduate of Canton Business College and attended Sierra College in California. Joyce worked in a Massillon law office; was a laboratory clerk in Timken Mercy Hospital at Canton; served as a dispatcher for the Fairbanks, Alaska Police Dept.; and worked in a Civil Service position for the U.S. Air Force. She loved kids and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Jewett-Scio Vikings and Harrison Central Huskies. She owned the original Harrison Central live mascot, a Siberian Huskie named “Bandit”, who died Aug. 1, 2007. She served two 4 year terms on the Harrison Hills City School District Board of Education, attending numerous Ohio School Board Association workshops at Columbus, Ohio and was passionate about the betterment of educational opportunities for the kids of Harrison County. Joyce loved animals, farming, gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, and was an avid football fan. As a music lover, she also played clarinet for the Sierra College symphony orchestra. She is survived by her husband, James E. Reicosky, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 13, 2008; her daughters, Julia Reicosky of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Judith (John) Seleski of Cadiz, Ohio, Jean (Scott) McConnell of Bergholz, Ohio, son John (Neladee) Reicosky of Cadiz, Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Reicosky of Columbus, Ohio, Desiree Reicosky of Pittsburgh, Penssylvania, James & Jason Reicosky of Cadiz, Ohio, Michael & Shawna McConnell of Bergholz, Ohio and great granddaughter, Evelyn Dimoff of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and a brother David Barr of Massillon, Ohio. In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services and cremation will take place at the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.Contributions in memory of Joyce’s life may be made to the Harrison Hills City School District, Band & Athletic funds, 422 Normal Street, P.O.
