Joyce A. Wallace

Joyce A. Wallace, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Monday, January 30, 2017, in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center following a period of declining health and a hard fought battle with cancer.

Born at Glendale, West Virginia on May 11, 1941, Joyce was a daughter of the late Charles and Bernie Van Dine and Helen Parsons Tennant. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School near Toronto, Ohio and furthered her education at Belmont Technical College.

For many years Joyce was a cook at the former Bonvechio’s Restaurant, The Little Restaurant in Tusky and the L & K at New Philadelphia. She also worked as a nurse’s aide for area nursing homes and in home health care.

She loved caring for her family and her beloved cats, Max, Cally and Precious Cupcake. She loved shopping, reading, crocheting, studying her Bible, talking with friends on the phone, and helping others and praying with them.

Joyce will be missed by her family which includes two daughters, Tonya (fiancée, Mike Burrier) Wallace and Tara (Matthew) Lehigh all of Uhrichsville; a brother, James (Linda) Yocum of Florida; three grandchildren, Tanity (fiancée, Joseph Mann) Toland, Kaley Lehigh, and Dakota Lehigh; a step-granddaughter, Shawnee (Shaylyn Green) Burrier; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Toland, Izzabell Mann and Damian Jett as well as her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Wallace, and a great-grandson, Lawrence Mann, III.

The family will greet guests on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11 AM in Preach The Word Ministries Church, 327 Beaver Avenue NE, New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
