Joseph W. Toth, 97, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Ohio Veteran’s Home at Sandusky following a period of declining health.A son of the late John and Mary (Danko) Toth, Joseph was born April 12, 1914 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during World War II. He was retired from Republic Steel at Massillon where he was employed for 37 years and never missed a days work. He enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid gardener.He is survived by his children, William (Pam) Toth of Michigan, Robert (Deborah) Toth of Canton and Patricia (Michael) Childers of Zanesville; his grandchildren, Lisa, Dan, Jennifer, Jessica, Andrew, Lauren, Claire and Jennifer and his great grandchildren, Sophia, Silvia, Emma, Bailey and Nick.Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Erma (Turrin) Toth who passed away on November 12, 2009; two sisters, Wilma and Mary and two brothers, John and George.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Joseph’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Jeff Coning officiating.
