Joseph W. Lanza, 90, most recently residing in Marietta, Georgia and formerly of Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016.
Born in Canton, Ohio on August 29, 1925, he was the son of the late James and Angela (Coco) Lanza.
After honorably serving his country in the United States Army 83rd Infantry Division during WWII, he spent his professional career as a jeweler at the Miracle Lane Plaza, where he owned and operated Lanza Jewelers for 32 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed wine-making, playing cards, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Julia (Sandy) Lanza, and his siblings Tony (Ruth) Lanza and Dutch (Maria) Lanza. He is survived by his sister Connie (Don) Wooldridge, and his two sons, Jim (Kelli) Lanza of Marietta, Georgia and Father Steven Lanza of Winnetka, Illinois, and his wonderful granddaughters, Julia and Olivia Lanza.
Father Lanza will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover on Thursday, July 7 beginning at 12:00 Noon with visitation one hour prior in the church. Entombment will follow alongside his wife in Dover Burial Park’s Mausoleum.
