Joseph Scott Cecil

Joseph Scott Cecil, age 43 of Canton, and formerly of Uhrichsville, died unexpectedly Thanksgiving Day in his home following a lengthy illness. Born at Massillon, Ohio on October 23, 1962, he was the son of Donald Edward Cecil and his wife Violet of New Philadelphia, and Agnes and her husband James Ragan of Canton.Better known as Scott by his friends, he attended First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia and was a 1981 graduate of Claymont High School. Following graduation, he began a career as a videographer. Scott was affiliated with the former WJER Video Services, and other media production companies in the Akron and Canton areas.In addition to his parents, survivors include his son, Nicholas Andrew Cecil Loar of Port Washington; his brothers Donny (Teri) Cecil of New Philadelphia, and Dale A. Cecil of Tuscarawas, and two sisters Kerry Jo (Dave) Sekman of Palm Bay, Florida and Kelly R. Smith of Dover. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles complete the family. Pastor Mark Trotter will lead funeral services Friday at 10:30 AM in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 North Wooster Avenue at Dover, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
