Joseph J. Gillespie

Joseph J. Gillespie, 63, of New Philadelphia passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.

Born in Marietta on May 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Junior and Pearl Gillespie.

After graduating from high school, he joined the workforce where he drove truck throughout his career.

Joe greatly enjoyed music; whether he was listening to it or playing in a band. He also loved traveling to old car shows. Most importantly, Joe loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He will be deeply missed by his family including his wife, Brenda (Russell) Gillespie; his children, Brenda, Kelly, Marlaina, Shawn (Erin), Josh (Kasey), Sarah (Kenny), and Destiny (Andy); 16 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Joyce Russell; his best friend, Jim Garabrandt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating his life will begin at 4 p.m.
