Joseph George Martinko, 85, of Marion, O., formerly of Youngstown, O., died Wednesday June 28, 2006, in Castle Nursing Home-Sunset View, at Millersburg, O.A son of the late John and Marie Bacha Martinko, Joe was born April 18, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio.He was a World War II Army Veteran and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Joe received a purple heart and two bronze stars for his service to his country. He was retired as a carpenter and was a member of Union Local 171, in Youngstown. Joe was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.He is survived by his wife, Bertha Donathan Martinko; a son, John Martinko, of Canfield; a daughter, Patricia Sutak, of Struthers, O.; step-sons, Doanald Hall, of Marion, Terry Hall, of Wooster, Kermit Hall, of New Philadelphia and Bill Hall, of Fredricksburg; a step-daughter, Penny King, of Marion; a brother, John Martinko, of Sharon, PA; sisters, Ruth Martinko, of Youngstown and Margaret Hovnac, of Spring, TX; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Pansy.Visitation will be held, Monday, July 3, 2006, from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, O. Funeral Services will be conducted immediately following the visitation in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Charles Sanders officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown where committal services will be held on Monday at 1:00pm.
