Joseph F. Dick, 58, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2021.
Born in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late Joseph S. Dick and is survived by his mother, Carol (Simcox) Dick of Calcutta, Ohio. Joe graduated from Beaver Local High School, Lisbon OH in 1981. He obtained multiple degrees in engineering from Kent State University and the former Jefferson Technical College at Steubenville. Joe spent his professional career with Flex Technologies in Midvale, beginning in the mid 1980’s as an engineering tech, ultimately obtaining the title of Vice President of Engineering. In 1988, Joe was presented the Taguchi Test Method Award (in Japan) for improving manufacturing processes.
Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. He was an avid supporter of his children’s numerous athletic and musical endeavors. Joe had passion for anything electronic or mechanical, “helping” with science fair projects, and 3-D printing. He enjoyed Gunsmoke, Star Trek, building rockets and flying kites. Joe also loved studying American War History.
On February 9, 1991, Joe married Karen (Seng) Dick; together they shared over 30 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children, David (Stacy) of Milford Ohio, CPT Cassondra (John) Loftus of Ft. Hood, Texas, Lannan (fiancé AJ) of LaGrange OH, Austin, a senior at Ohio University, and Ryan, a senior at TCC; a brother, Matthew (Jennifer) Dick of Cape Coral, Forida; numerous nieces and nephews; close personal family friends – the Clore and Craig families; and his faithful furry companions, Sherlock and Major.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his father, is Joe’s first wife, Lisa (Minto) Dick.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia officiated by Father Jeff Coning and Father Tyron Tomson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Following the burial, a lunch will be provided for all friends and family at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Booster Club or the Peter Clore Memorial Fund held at TCCHS.
Due to COVID, safety precautions will be taken at all venues. Social distancing will be honored, and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home, church, and high school.
