Joseph A. Cihon, 73, of Dover, died Friday, April 19, 2002, at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.Born in Roswell, Ohio, he was the son of Max “Moxie” and Anna (Cihon) Cihon. He retired after 39 years as a foreman for Marsh Lumber, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. Joseph was an avid wood worker, and he enjoyed photography, traveling, and playing cards with his family.Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Theresa (Tylka) Cihon , of the home, whom he married February 23, 1952; two daughters, JoAnn (David) Sampsel of New Philadelphia and Sandra (James) Davy of Dover; three sons, Stephen Cihon of New Philadelphia, Lawrence Cihon and Robert Cihon, both of Columbus; five Grandchildren, David Sampsel of Columbus, Amanda Sampsel of Dover, Tracy, Monica, and Joseph “Alex” Davy, all of Dover; sister, Anna Fosnight of North Canton; brother, Andrew Cihon of Midvale; many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Howard and three brothers, John, Peter and Michael Cihon.A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 22, 2002, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Father William Arnold as celebrant. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia with military honors presented by New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445.Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 2-5 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake Service being held at 4:30 PM.
