John Robert Wolf, 64, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with his Lord on February 18, 2025.
Born March 20, 1960 in Gallipolis, John was the son of the late Robert and Margaret “Peg” (Van Ness) Wolf. He was known to his family as Charlie Brown or CB as his favorite stuffed toy was a Charlie Brown doll.
At age 11, John accepted Christ and in his adult years, he possessed a strong Christian faith and tried to let the light of Jesus shine through him. He was able to witness his faith to those he came in contact with through his trials and continued nurturing his faith attending Calvary Baptist Church at New Philadelphia.
John suffered many medical issues: diabetes, kidney failure, a kidney and pancreas transplant, esophageal, liver and kidney cancers. He remained steadfast through his chemo and radiation treatments. He fought through all of this with the knowledge of life forever in heaven with Jesus Christ, our Lord.
John graduated from Manchester High School in 1978 and then furthered his education attending Akron University where he studied criminal justice and law enforcement. He worked as a Security Officer at the former Timken Mercy Hospital at Canton and also for other departments. He then became a full-time officer in Canal Fulton, Ohio. John then went to work for Wayne-Dalton Garage Doors at Mount Hope and retired from there as a Project Engineer after 23 years of service to the company. John also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Wayne Township (Dundee) Fire Department in Tuscarawas County.
John is survived by his wife, Diane. She was his best friend, lover, caregiver, companion and sweetheart. Also surviving are his son, Joshua Wolf; his three brothers, Doug (Donna) Wolf, Ken (Dee) Wolf and Steve (Melanie) Wolf and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a nephew, Brandon Wolf.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating John’s life will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 beginning at 11 AM in Calvary Baptist Church at New Philadelphia, with Pastor Don Snow officiating. Burial will be in Schoenbrunn Meadow Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Missions Program at Calvary Baptist Church, 1507 Old Town Valley Road SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
