John Vernon “Jack” Hupp, 76, of New Philadelphia, went home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday morning, October 29, 2008 in his home.A son of the late George and Annabell (Ritenour) Hupp, Jack was born November 20, 1931 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.A life long resident of the area, Jack graduated from Midvale High School in 1949. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Air Force where he served as a military police officer from 1949 to 1952.He retired as a plant supervisor at Marlite where he had worked for over 30 years. Jack also was active in many other organizations and activities. As a born again child of God, he was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church. Jack was also a football and basketball official, a little league coach, a former PTA President, a member of Coon Hunters Association and was an avid outdoorsman.Jack is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Carr) Hupp, whom he married on November 22, 1954; nine children, John (Terri) Hupp, Mike (Sue) Hupp, Dawn (Bobby) Mendoza, Steve (Cheryl) Hupp, Mark Hupp, Lori (Tim) Beitzel, Scot Hupp, Todd Hupp and Dan Hupp; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Lawver; two brothers, Don and Bob Hupp and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.Jack’s family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2008 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Bill Mannweiler officiating. Following the service, the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 will render military honors. A memorial reception will then be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center.The family suggests that contributions be made in Jack’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third, Dover, OH 44622
