John H. Ulrich

John H. Ulrich, 80, of Dover, passed away on September 8, 2024, in Ohio's Lifecare Hospice – Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

Born on November 27, 1943, in Newcomerstown, John was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Nell (Shaffer) Ulrich and a steadfast fixture in the lives of those who knew him.

A graduate of Dover High School, John demonstrated a commitment to excellence from an early age. He further pursued his education at the former Columbus Business University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. This educational journey paved the way for a fulfilling career, culminating in his retirement from Huntington Bank in Columbus, where he worked as a credit and collections manager. His dedication to his work was evident, yet it paled in comparison to his devotion to his family.

John served honorably in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, a period that would shape his character and instilled in him values of loyalty, courage, and service. These qualities would come to define not only his time in the military but also the deep bond he fostered with his family and friends throughout his life. John found immense joy in spending time with his family, creating memories that will be forever cherished.

John is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Shaw) Ulrich whom he married September 8, 1968 and together they shared over 55 years of marriage before his passing. Also surviving are his two sons, Andrew (Leighanna) Ulrich of Slidell, Louisiana and Aaron (Brittany) Ulrich of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Haylee Elliott, Gabby Jones, Lake Gadfield, Lillian Gadfield, Easton Butler and Branson Ulrich; a great granddaughter, Everlee Elliott; his brother, Ray (Jade) Ulrich and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Ulrich and a sister, Judy Manning.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Geib Funeral Center & Crematory at Dover and a private family service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Ohio's Lifecare Hospice - Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
