John Thomas Fagley, 87, a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover, Ohio with his loving wife of 49 years, Billie, by his side.
A son of the late Harold and Fern (Feller) Fagley, John was born March 22, 1928 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
John graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1946 and during the 1970’s he served as the photographer for the football team. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as a radar technician for four years.
John retired from Office Equipment Co. after 19 years of service. Following retirement he enjoyed hauling cars for Shook Auto.
He is survived by his wife, Billie (Stewart) Fagley whom he married on February 18, 1966; a son, Larry Fagley of Florida; a step-daughter whom he raised since she was 5 years old, Sue (Aden L.) Miller of Sugarcreek; a sister, Betty (Wilson) McAninch of Cadiz; and his dear neighbors, The Addelmans and the Leggetts.
John is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren who will fondly remember him as a wonderful Grandpa.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ron Fagley and a sister, Phyllis Meese.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Clifford Hughes officiating. Private family burial will take place in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hennis Care & Retirement Centre for their love, care and attention given to John during his stay.
