John Theodore “Ted” Lehman, age 76, of Stone Creek, died unexpectedly, Friday, February 25, 2011, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.A son of the late Robert L. and Kathryn E. Miller Lehman, Ted, as he was known by family and friends, was born at Stone Creek on April 27, 1934.He attended school at Stone Creek and retired from Kimble Clay and Limestone Company at Dover.Ted was an accomplished wood worker who enjoyed building furniture. Through the years, he also refurbished more than 20 Wheel Horse tractors, and would spend many hours a day on some of those same tractors carefully grooming his five acre property ensuring every blade of grass was perfectly even. When it came to handy work, there was little Ted could not accomplish; he set his mind to a task and would not finish until the job was complete. From plumbing, to electrical, to masonry work, Ted crafted each skill as he carefully built his own home and most of his daughter’s home as well.Ted leaves behind his wife, the former Jo Ann Ott whom he married on September 18, 1954; a daughter, Debbie Lehman of Fresno; five sisters, Marie (Paul) Morckel, Mardell (Ralph) Lahmers, Bessie (Wayne) Bissell, Peggy (Ervin) Swartzentruber, and Audrey Green and her companion, Solomon Eicher; and two brothers, Roger (Janice) Lehman and Chester (Cathy) Lehman.Completing the family are two sisters-in-law, Erma Lehman and Janice Celuch; a brother and sister-law, Adrian (Peggy) Ott and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. In addition to his parents Ted was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Dale, Charles, and Donald Lehman, a brother-in-law, Paul Celuch and a niece, Cathy Robinson.A graveside service led by Pastor Lloyd Tenney will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Stone Creek Cemetery. Due to construction at Stone Creek, guests traveling to the cemetery are advised to use State Route 21. Ted spent much of his life helping and performing acts of kindness toward others; in the same manner, his family asks that in lieu of financial contributions, others perform a random act of kindness in his memory.
