John Robert Roth, 99, of Dover, a man whose kindness touched many lives and whose faith was unwavering, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born in Tuscarawas, John was the son of the late Edward and Lucy (Rummell) Roth and lived a life marked by devotion, service, and a genuine love for others.
A proud graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School, John went on to honorably serve his country as a Marine serving in the South Pacific during World War II. His experiences during this time not only shaped him into the dedicated man he became but also instilled in him a profound sense of duty and compassion for his fellow man.
Following his military service, John dedicated his professional life to the field of sales, retiring from MAC Tools, where he was known and respected for his dedication and hard work. His ability to connect with others made him not just a salesman, but a friend to many.
Those who were fortunate enough to know John remember him as a kind and welcoming man who radiated warmth. He often shared his faith and joy in conversations, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of those around him. Together with his beloved wife, they traveled across the United States, exploring new places hand in hand, and spent countless hours praying for others, embodying their deep faith and selfless service to others.
He is survived by his second wife, Ruth L. (Frame) Roth of the residence; his three children, John (Vera) Roth of Lewisville, Joseph (Jeanmarie) Roth of New Philadelphia and Linda (John) Hunt of Newcomerstown; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren with another “one on the way”.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Ann Beans and his four siblings, Lloyd Roth, Faye Fenton, Doyle Roth and Ben Roth.
The family will celebrate John’s life at a graveside service in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas, Ohio on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Military honors will be provided by the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445.
