John Raymond Barr

John Raymond Barr, 42, of Dover, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.A son of James Barr and Sandra Clark, John was born October 21, 1964 at Harvey, Illinois.He was a 1983 graduate of Crete-Monee High School. John then continued his education at Northern Illinois University and then at Governor’s University where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications. He was employed at Morton’s Salt at Rittman, Ohio where he worked as a lab assistant.John was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at Canton. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed golfing as well.He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly (Cutright) Barr, whom he married September 2, 2000; his daughter, Alison Barr, his mother, Sandra (Gary) Clark of Coal City, Illinois; his father, James (Kathleen) Barr of Crete, Illinois; a sister, Jayme (Randy) Spitzer of Elgin, Illinois; nephews, Mathew and Mark Spitzer; grandmother, Dorothy Walker of Shorewood, Illinois; an aunt, Anita (Casey) Weis of Bella Vista, Arkansas; uncles, John (Sandra) Barr of Canton, Ohio and Raymond (Sharon) Kankakee, Illinois; mother-in-law, Joett Cutright of Brewster, Ohio; father-in-law, Gawaine Cutright of Sutton, West Virginia and a sister-in-law, Denise (James) Johnson of Sugarcreek, Ohio.Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating John’s life will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center with Rev. Mike Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Family Center.Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and view an online memorial by visiting the funeral home website.The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in John’s memory to a fund to benefit Alison’s future education.
