John “Jack” R. Weiland III, of Dover, died Friday August 27, 2004 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born June 6, 1944 in East Canton to John R. and Geneva (Evans) Weiland, and was a member of the East Canton High School Class of 1962.Jack was employed at Galt Titanium as a Jouneyman Millright, was a member of Dover VFW Post 3463, Canton AmVets, was a Vietnam War veteran, loved traveling and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both fishing and hunting.Jack was preceded in death by his father.He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jacque”(Springer) whom he married March 5, 1970; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Halley Zeigler of Dover; sisters, Linda Knipfer of Canton and Barbara Crayble of East Canton; brothers, David Weiland of Magnolia and Gregory Weiland of East Canton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.A service in memory of Jack is planned for Monday August 30, 2004, at 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours Sunday from 3-5PM at the funeral home. The Dover VFW will conduct Military honors at the funeral home immediately following the service Monday. In keeping with Jack’s wishes cremation will follow the services.
