John Michael Norman

December 3, 1949 — July 25, 2015

John Michael Norman, 65, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Hennis Care and Retirement Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Woodrow and Gay (Greathouse) Norman, John was born December 3, 1949 at Glenville, West Virginia.

John was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy.

John was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia. He enjoyed working in his garage and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Kaletka of New Philadelphia and David (Shana) Norman of Dover; his grandchildren, Carolyn Kaletka and Mallory and Daniel Norman; three sisters, Nancy Moss of West Virginia, Mary (Russ) Kohler of Sugarcreek and Connie Gallagher of New Philadelphia; three brothers, Ed (Linda) Norman of New Philadelphia, Jack (Judy) Norman of Sugarcreek and Joe (Kris) Norman of New Philadelphia a brother-in-law, Terry McClelland of New Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” (McConnell) Norman whom he married on December 30, 1976 and a sister, Jean McClelland.

In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date and inurnment will take place in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
