John Edward Manners

John Edward Manners, 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Cleveland Clinic – Mercy Medical Center at Canton, following a period of declining health.

Born in Kiersey, Oklahoma, John was one of six children born to the late Pete and Hazel (Armstrong) Manners. He was a dedicated and respected Superintendent and Security Officer for Well Service Group at New Philadelphia, where he contributed many years of service with integrity and commitment before a work injury forced him to retire.

John cherished his family, always finding joy in being surrounded by his loved ones. His warmth and friendly demeanor made gatherings a pleasure for those lucky enough to spend time with him. Beyond his professional accomplishments and devotion to his family, John found great enjoyment in playing dominoes and card games, particularly poker, where his strategic mind would shine through.

John is survived by his loving wife and companion of over 26 years, Denise Manners of the residence; step-daughters, Christina (Brad) McQuone of Dover and Stephanie (Bobby) Smith of Weatherford, Texas; two sisters, Kathy (Buddy) Barton of Oklahoma, Jane (Bob) Myers of Texas; two brothers, Vernon Manners and Rickey Manners both of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his faithful pet dog, Chakka.

In addition to his parents, a sister, Joan Ray, also preceded him in death.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia and the family will host a celebration of John’s life at a later date.
