John Leatherman

John F. Leatherman, age 90, formerly of Roswell died Saturday, December 15, 2007 in Harrison Community Hospital at Cadiz.A son of the late Charles M. and Rachel Ann Herbert Leatherman, John was born on June 28, 1917 at Roswell.A World War II veteran, John spent most of his life as a farmer and truly enjoyed every aspect of life on the farm. In addition, he was a former superintendent for the Midvale Coal Company.On June 14, 1944 John married the former Mabel Lane, who preceded him in death.John is survived by one son, John F. and his wife Melody Leatherman of Cadiz, a grandson, Richard G. Leatherman of Strasburg, a niece, Sherry Rieger of New Philadelphia and four great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Leatherman, Earl Leatherman, George Leatherman, and two sisters, Erma Howard and Irene Leggett.The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 from 1:00PM to 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Following visitation, a graveside service will take place in the Holmes Church Cemetery.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences and sign the online guest registry by visiting the funeral home’s website.At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
