John Michael “Jack” Connare, age 76, formerly of Dover, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 in West Bay Center Nursing Home at Westlake, Ohio.
Born on February 19, 1938, at Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Jack was a son of the late John M. Connare, Sr. and Frances L. (Sousa) Connare.
He was a graduate of East High School at Cleveland and worked for Ferris Chevrolet at New Philadelphia for 13 years in the Parts Sales Department. John was a former member of the New Philadelphia Moose and the Dover Eagles, and in his free time enjoyed bowling. Additionally, John was a fan of Soap Box Derby racing and built two championship cars that his children raced.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Sammon of Olmsted Township, Ohio; Kim (Ryan) Downin of Strasburg; a son, Wally (Melissa) Connare of Dover and a sister, Jeanette “Jerry” (Robert) Kaminski of Amarillo, Texas.
Completing the family are eight grandchildren, Jeanne (JC) Miller, Danny and Michael Sammon, Bailey and Ashley Downin, and Corey, Cassy, Cooper, and Coen Connare.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Connare on June 30, 2010; as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Charles Judd.
The family will greet guests on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be led by Dr. Terry Downin on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. Following the service a time of food and fellowship will take place in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center.
