John (Jack) Hugh Reed, age 75, of Dover, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 3, 2007 in Autumnwood Nursing Home at Rittman following a six month battle with cancer. Jack was born at Minerva, April 12, 1931, a son of the late Hugh and Cleo Morkel Reed. After attending Minerva High School, he entered the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he worked at TRW of Minerva. A hard working man his entire life, Jack was affiliated with Transue & Williams Stamping Company at Alliance from 1977 until his retirement in 1993. Once retired, Jack and his late wife, the former Patricia Moore Reed, relocated to Dover, where they enjoyed their golden years among their family and friends. Jack delighted in spending time in the pursuit of the perfect collectable antiques Â? so much so that he operated his own booth at Riverfront Antique Mall for several years. Jack also enjoyed playing cards, especially with his friends at the B.P.O. Elks # 510 of New Philadelphia, and his acquaintances at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. He was a longtime supporter of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. The best times though, were in spending time with his wife Pat, who died just before Christmas last year. They spent twenty-nine years together enjoying one another’s company, and, in his final days, Jack anticipated their heavenly reunion. Mr. Reed is survived by three sons, Randy (Vicki) Reed of Chicago, Illinois, John Reed of Minerva, Ohio, and Ronald Christopher “Chris” (Lori) Milligan of Doylestown, Ohio. Grandchildren Mindi, Ryan and Derek Reed and Allison and Hayden Milligan. A brother, Richard Reed of Minerva, Ohio, and a sister, Bonnie Whitaker of Gainesville, Florida. Friends are invited to call Thursday evening, March 8 from 6PM until 8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Reed funeral service will be held Friday morning, at 10 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510, 1180 Union Avenue NW from 11:30-1:30.Linn-Hert-Geib(330) 343-5506www.geibfuneral.com
