John H. Cabbage

John H. Cabbage, 69, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Union Hospital.A son of the late Hollis and Minnie Nicely Cabbage, John was born October 22, 1935, in Maynardsville, Union Co., Tn.He was a graduate of Horace-Maynard High School at Union Co., Tn. John had excelled in sales for various department stores, and as a flea market vendor, and most recently had been the head chef on an off shore oil exploration ship. He enjoyed fishing and will be remembered as a kind man who enjoyed people.He is survived by his brothers and sister-in-laws, Billy and Kathy Cabbage, of New Philadelphia and Elder Daniel R. and Rowena Cabbage of Maynardsville, Tn.; nephews, Luke and Ray Cabbage; nieces, Diane Cabbage and Kathy Lee; and great nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Carpenter; and a brother, David Allen Cabbage.A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, at New Philadelphia with Rev. Loman Shuman officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. till the 3:00 p.m. service time. Cremation will follow the service and his human cremated remains shall be returned to Tennessee for inurnment.
