John W. “Jack” Furniss, 90, of Dover, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 in New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover following a brief illness.
Born in New Philadelphia on June 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Vernon and Josie Redding Furniss. Jack retired from the former IF Manufacturing in New Philadelphia and was a United States Army veteran having served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and was also a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay (Dale) Switzer of Mansfield; a son, John “Jack” Furniss of New Philadelphia; and a granddaughter, Autumn L. Furniss of Akron. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Helen Polen. The family would also like to especially thank Sandi Wallace for all of her care and compassion.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, his body is to be cremated through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and no public services will be conducted.
