John C. Fletcher

John C. Fletcher, 88, of Dover, died Thursday, April 07, 2016 in Park Village Health Care at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late John E. and Ruth (Barker) Fletcher, John was born September 21, 1927 at Parma, Ohio.

John graduated from Parma High School.  He then continued his education at Baldwin-Wallace College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean War.  John enjoyed a successful career as partner of a sales company of automotive machinery.

He was a member of Union Country Club at Dover where he enjoyed many rounds of golf.  John enjoyed a variety of sports and was especially fond of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.  He was an avid bridge player, enjoyed listening to all sorts of music and walking his black lab, Molly.  During his younger years, John enjoyed traveling with his wife, Kathryn.

He is survived by his sister, Ruth Glenn of Canton; a niece, Cindy Gay of Canton; his son, Cortlandt Fletcher of China; a step daughter, Deborah McGlothlin and her husband, Russ of New Philadelphia; a step son, Jeff Reiser and his wife Becki of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, J. (Dolora) Schumacher of Johnstown, Ohio, Kathryn (Jason) Lehigh of Delaware, Ohio, Micah (Rebecca) Reiser of Ashburn, Virginia, Jordan (Brittany) Reiser of Evansville, Indiana, and Christopher Reiser of Gnadenhutten and great grandchildren, Olivia, Charlie and Simon Lehigh.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathryn Ann Fletcher whom he married on April 20, 1978 and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Reiser.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating John’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mick Foster officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.  A luncheon will be held on the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
