John C. Carter

John C. Carter, 67, of Dover, passed away in Cleveland Clinic – Akron General Hospital at Akron on Friday, January 10, 2025, following a period of declining health.

Born in Franklin, Illinois, John was the son of the late John and Margaret (Vanno) Carter and had graduated from New Philadelphia High School. During most of his working career, John worked as a truck driver before a disability kept him from working further.

Described as a simple man, John loved playing cards, especially Rummy and being outdoors fishing or watching airplanes at Harry Clever Field in New Philadelphia.

John is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Jenkins of Sterling, Virginia and Jessica Carter of Dennison; and his grandson, Jameson Baker-Carter.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, John Carter, a brother and a sister.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and no public services are to be scheduled.
