John Caldwell, 70, of Tuscarawas, passed away suddenly in Trinity Twin City Hospital at Dennison on July 9, 2015 following an apparent heart attack.
Born March 1, 1945 in Dennison, he was the son of the late George E. and Opal E. (Zurcher) Caldwell.
After graduating from New Philadelphia High School, John honorably served his country in the United States Army. Then, he began his professional career that spanned 45 years with Gradall.
John will be deeply missed by his family, whom he loved and supported throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whether it was throwing a ball in the yard or cheering on their sports teams. John also had a very giving heart, sharing his time with the Twin City Christian Services Center.
He enjoyed exercising whether it was walking or biking. He was also a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Stacie (boyfriend, Timothy Lowery) McDaniel of Columbus, and Brent (Kim) Smith of Michigan; his former wife, Mary Joyce Caldwell; his grandchildren, Blake, Nelson and Hannah McDaniel, and Weston, Brody, Michael, Ben, and Cierra Smith; his great-granddaughter, Emoni Woods; his sisters, Nancy (Bill) Baldwin of Florida, Bonnie Caldwell of Tennessee, and Joyce Hunt of Canton; and his former son-in-law, Don McDaniel of Tuscarawas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry; and his niece and nephew, Greg and Lori.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. A service celebrating his life will follow at 4 p.m. Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and inurnment in Leesville Cemetery will follow at a later date.
