John C. Lawhun, age 82, of Tuscarawas, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia.A son of the late Forest and Silvania Royster Lawhun, John was born at Brushart, Kentucky on February 16, 1928.It did not matter if he was on a country road or making a trip out West to visit family, John found enjoyment in traveling. He was a fan of Western Movies, especially if they starred John Wayne. Most importantly, was the time he spent sharing in visits with his children, and his grandchildren. John leaves behind a family which includes, his long-time companion, Ruth Renner of Tuscarawas, his children; three daughters, Diane (Chuck) Pastori of Canton, Sue (Dave) Price of Bolivar, and Linda (Gary) Griesen of Tuscarawas; two sons, John C. Lawhun, Jr. of Tempe, Arizona, and Ken (Jane) Lawhun of Bolivar; and three step-children, Debbie, Douglas, and Holly.A brother Bill (Louise) Lawhun of Canton; two sisters, Esther Jackson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Thelma Grim of Minerva; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five brothers, Brady, Delbert, James, Gene, and Bert Lawhun, and two sisters, Lillian Kish and Hester Broomfield.A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be led by Pastor Pete Price in the Bolivar Wesleyan Church, 241 Pine Street, Bolivar, Ohio, on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Following the service, a meal and fellowship will be shared in the ROC Center at Bolivar. Memorial contributions in John’s name may be directed to Crossroads Hospice 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr Uniontown, OH 44685.
