John C. Grummick

John C. Grummick, age 93, of Dover North Star Homes, Dover died on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.Born at Manifold (near Washington) PA on March 13, 1917, John was a life long member of the Missionary Alliance Church, and longstanding member of the American Legion and the VFW. John had proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 – 1946. He participated in action at Okinawa and at Ryukyu Is, as well as in the occupation of China. From the age of fifteen, he worked in greenhouses and went on to work in the Pennsylvania steel mills, retiring after thirty-seven years of service. However he never lost his love of flowers and grew beautiful gardens until just a couple years ago.John is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Ann Mae Grummick; her two daughters and two sons and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.In keeping with John’s wishes, he will be buried in the Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman where services will be held at a later date.John’s family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Park Village Health Care Center for the loving care they provided to John.
