John C. Adams

John C. Adams, age 79, of New Philadelphia passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio after a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on October 15, 1943, he was the youngest son of the late George and Mary (Mehok) Adams.  A 1961 graduate of Dover High School, John worked at the former Godfrey Electric in Dover and at Republic Steel in Canton before being drafted in 1965.  John served his country in the United States Army for two years before returning home to begin his 30-year career at the former Reeves Mill in Dover.

Upon his retirement in 1997, John worked at Candlelight Villas, for Dover City Schools as a part-time custodian, and for the last 16 years, he was a valued member of the Geib Funeral Home staff.  His hobbies included traveling, walking at the mall and spending time with his grandchildren, and following their school activities and sporting events.  John was also a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover.

John was the proud father to April (Jason) Taylor of Tipp City, Ohio, Carie (Matthew) Foust of Dover, and Stacy (Rich) Wall of Tipp City, Ohio.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, the lights of his life, Brady (Lauren) Foust, Blake Foust, Brooke (Justin Shepler) Foust, Dawson Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Ryan Wall, Kayla Wall, and Samantha Wall.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Paul Adams, Robert Adams, James Adams, Patrick Adams, Dorothy Rothacher, and Pauline Binsack.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Geib Funeral Home in Dover.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fathers Jimmy Hatfield and Jeff Coning in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Dover on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10:30 AM.  Burial will immediately follow in Dover Burial Park.
