Joel M. Horsfall, 30, of Port Washington, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 in his home, following an eighteen-month battle with colon cancer.Born in Dover, he was the son of Carolyn Guspyt Horsfall of Gnadenhutten and Franklin Horsfall of New Philadelphia. Joel was a 1991 graduate of Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten and had attended the University of Akron. He was employed for eleven years at Summit Racing Equipment in Tallmadge where he worked as a Customer Service Supervisor and was a member of the Fry’s Valley Moravian Church. He loved drag racing his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and snow skiing. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Channon J. Simmons, whom he married September 11, 1999; a son, Coel Joshua Horsfall of the residence; a brother, Rob A. Horsfall of New Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Shawnte Orozco of Cleveland and Shana Simmons of Dover; a father-in-law and his fiancée, Greg Simmons and Sharon Dietz of New Philadelphia; a niece, Cierra Orozco of Cleveland; maternal grandparents, Charles and Ruby Guspyt of Gnadenhutten and many other family members.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Marie K. Couts officiating. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park in Dover. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 1 to 4 PM in the funeral home.
