Joanne Kopka

Joanne Kay Kopka, 76, of New Philadelphia passed away November 8, 2017 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Canton, Ohio on June 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Adella Seefong.

After completing her formal education, Joanne worked for a variety of companies, most recently Breitenbach Winery. Prior to that, Joanne was employed for 17 years at Alsco.

Joanne loved animals and especially enjoyed her service as the Tuscarawas County Humane Officer.

Joanne is survived by her children, Kim (Tom) McKnight of New Philadelphia and Andy (Polly) Kopka of Rock Hill, South Carolina; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her caregiver, Verna; and five sisters and one brother.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Kopka in 1986; her companion Cassius Nation; and her second mother, Rosalee Nation on February 8, 2013.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 5 to 6 PM. A memorial service will begin at 6 PM in the funeral home.
