Joann Lois Stewart

Joann Lois Stewart, age 91, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Clearwater, Florida, died Friday, December 13, 2024, in Mease Countryside Hospital at Safety Harbor, Florida following a period of declining health. 

Born on the family farm in Oldtown Valley, Jefferson Township, on August 13, 1933, Joann was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Arbogast) Shull.  

She was a 1952 graduate of the former Stone Creek School and on February 20, 1955, married Ralph “Pete” Stewart. The couple enjoyed a life of love and adventure that spanned nearly 70 years. Together they enjoyed countless, memorable vacations that included cruises, and trips to the Caribbean and Europe.  

In addition to her love of traveling, Joann enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, making trips to the casino, listening to music, watching the Cleveland Indians, being involved with her family, and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She was known for her work ethic and her strong will which she instilled in her family. 

Joann is survived by her husband, Pete, her children, Rhonda (Ronnie Wilson) Stewart of New Philadelphia, and Lonni (Jodene) Stewart of Sunbury, Ohio; her grandchildren, Anton Manini, Elliott Manini, Holly Stewart, and Amy Stewart; her great-grandchildren, Carter, Faith, Cornelio, Cameron, Tyler, and Mikayla; a great-great-granddaughter, Raelynne; a sister, Nancy (Bob) Hamilton; and a brother, Robert (Carol) Shull. Completing the family are numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins. 

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by a grandson, Kirk Manini. 

The family will greet guests on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Joann’s life on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Stone Creek Cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception and a toast to Joann following the services at Ricardo’s Party Center.
