JoAnn Glassner

October 13, 1930 — May 10, 2014

S. JoAnn Glassner, age 83, of New Philadelphia went to be with her Lord and Savior, early Saturday, May 10, 2014 while in New Dawn Rehabilitation Center at Dover.

Born at Columbus, Ohio on October 13, 1930, JoAnn was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ida May (Hummell) Cochran.

She graduated school from Linden-McKinley High School at Columbus and on May 28, 1949, married Rev. Joseph O. Glassner. Together, the couple shared in nearly 56 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 18, 2005.

JoAnn spent her days caring for her family and supporting her husband’s ministry career. As a lover of music, JoAnn was often found directing and singing in various church choirs. Most recently, she was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Mary Martha Circle. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering for Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, playing the piano, listening to traditional hymns, and enjoying the gardens that surrounded her home.

Professionally, JoAnn was employed by Bartley Funeral Home at Minerva, Miller & Miller Refuse of Canton, and enjoyed her work with the Welcome Wagon of Uhrichsville.

She leaves behind her four daughters, M. Susan Glassner of New Philadelphia, Patricia Jo (Bob) Morris of Columbus, Linda (Greg) Donaldson of Dover, and Tamara Glassner of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Cara (Jason) Adams, Jonathan Sisson, Amy (Bobby) Kneisel, Kyle Donaldson, and Shawn (Ali) Donaldson; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Noah Adams and Jonathan, Cailey, and Christian Kneisel and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Hollenbach, Florence Lathem, Vera Cochran, and Betty Keirns.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
