JoAnn Betty Rogers

JoAnn Betty Rogers, 77, of Barnhill, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 following a long period of declining health.

Born in Dover on September 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Robert N. Blackson, Sr. and Erma L (Espenschied) White.

After graduating from Dover High School, JoAnn married her lifelong companion and friend, Donald H. Rogers, on January 15, 1957.

JoAnn obtained her LPN and worked at Park Village Healthcare Center in Dover for a number of years before enjoying retirement with Don. Together, they loved to travel in their motorhome.

JoAnn’s faith was nurtured as a child at Dover Alliance Church. She was also a gifted at crocheting.

In addition to Don, JoAnn will be deeply missed by her son, Donald H. (Ursula) Rogers, Jr. of Texas; her daughter, Deborah (Raymond) Biechler of Dennison; her siblings, Regis (Roxie) Blackson of Arizona, Ralph (Karol) Blackson of California, and Carol (Mac) Hamilton of Texas; and her grandchildren, Christie, John, and Jennifer; and 1 great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Blackson; and her grandson, Michel A. White.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating JoAnn’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard G. Rose officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
