Joann A. Berlendis-Lorenz

Joann Antoinette Berlendis-Lorenz, age 87, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on November 22, 2021, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover following a brief illness.

Born June 11, 1934 in Wainwright, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Besozzi) Berlendis and was preceded in death by her dear sister, Josephine Berlendis.

Joann was best known for her smile and willingness to make her family, friends and co-workers laugh no matter what the circumstance.  She was also a loving mother and friend to all immediate and extended family.  She loved to socialize with her friends and played Canasta for many years.  She was also a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church.

She dedicated her life as a RN (registered nurse) at Union Hospital in Dover for more than 40 years.  She graduated nurse’s training from Mercy Medical Center in Canton where she made lifelong friends.  Following her retirement, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Park Village for a brief period.

Joann leaves behind her sons, Jeffrey (Teresa) Lorenz of Zanesville and Joseph (Karen) Lorenz of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan and Kaylie; and three great-grandchildren, Braylen, Jenna and Aubrey.

The family will receive family and friends in the Sacred Heart Church Parish Center in New Philadelphia on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM.  Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the church Parish Center, where friends can continue in fellowship.
