Joan Zion

Joan L. Zion, 62, of New Philadelphia passed away unexpectedly in Aultman Hospital at Canton on June 12, 2015.

Born in Coshocton on May 11, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Paul K. and Helen F. (Bliss) Addy.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1971, she began her professional career with Zimmer Patient Care. After 40 years of employment, she retired as a medical assembler.

Joan was married to her lifelong friend and companion, Steve A. Zion, on August 31, 1974. Together, they enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally. They also had a passion for animals, supporting the Tuscarawas County Humane Society for many years.

Joan was also a member of the Zoar Doll Club and loved collecting dolls.

In addition to Steve, Joan will be deeply missed by her siblings, Larry (Patty) Addy of Dennison and Jill (Steve) Harder of Strasburg; her nephews and niece, Karree (David) Zantene, Doug (Debbie) Addy, and Dusty Harder; her close friend, Suzie Giles; 3 great-nephews and 1 great-niece; and her beloved pets, Zoey and Lexi.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. No public visitation or services are scheduled.

Memorial contributions in Joan’s memory may be directed to either Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County or to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
