Joan Black

Joan Black, 85 of Strasburg, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio following a short illness. She was born July 1, 1925 at Columbus, Ohio.She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Joe) Helbling of Dover and Valerie (Mike) Gillespie of Franklin, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Ali (Albert) Burks of Clarksville, Tennessee and Abby Helbling of Dover; a sister, Judith Birkhead of Hilliard, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Elaine Black of Columbus, Ohio.Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Beecher Black who passed away on August 24, 2008 and a sister, Barbara Mallory.In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
