Jewel D. Goff

December 3, 1931 — December 31, 2007

Jewel D. Goff, age 76 of New Philadelphia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 31, 2007 in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia following a brief illness. One of ten children born to the late George and Katie Dunn Lovely, Jewel was born in Stella, Kentucky on December 3, 1931.Jewel was a child of the depression era which left her knowing a work ethic that was second to none. In fact, she was such a hard worker, that she was able to hold a job until May of 2007 when ill health forced her into permanent retirement. While Jewel had a lifestyle that was at times very private, she enjoyed spending time with her family and would never pass on the opportunity to share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jewel knew the Lord on a personal level and knew the peace, comfort and understanding that came along through him. She was always very supportive of local and distant missionaries and their projects. Following her retirement as a nursing assistant, Jewel would hold weekly Bible Studies in a local nursing home and would pray with and preach the gospel to everyone she came in contact with.In addition to missionary support, Jewel was also a life long member of the National Democratic Party and has faithfully supported them for many years. Jewel is survived by two daughters, Jean Versano of Dellroy, and Loretta Patrick of Cleveland; two sons, Bob Patrick and his wife Marcella of Dellroy, and Kevin Patrick of New Philadelphia. Eight grandchildren, Robert Patrick, Paul Patrick, Renée Berlyak, Brad Patrick, Marc Geisinger, Stephanie Oryszak, Jason Ohler and David Versano also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goff is preceded in death by her husband, James Goff; a daughter, Nora Ohler and several brothers and sisters.A private family service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Mr. Harold Grover conducting the Goff service.
