Jessie A. Bitikofer, 61, of 210 Church St. SW, Sugarcreek passed away November 14, 2003 at Union Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in Dover to the late Jesse B and Mathilda M. (Hauff) Mann and was very active in Sugarcreek. She was a self-employed step-on guide for area tourists and a former correspondent for the Times Reporter and Wooster Daily Record. Jessie was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, member of Sugarcreek Village Council for 8 years, past president of the Ohio Swiss Festival where she served as queen’s chairman for 14 years and past Little Swiss Miss chairman.On September 11, 1960 she married Elmer B. Bitikofer Jr. and he survives. Also surviving are her sons; Chris (Melissa) Bitikofer of Sagamore Hills and Derrek Bitikofer and Jackie Stone of Sugarcreek, 4 grandchildren; Ben, Yvonne and Josaline Bitikofer of Sugarcreek and Madison Bitikofer of Sagamore Hills, 2 sisters; Mrs. Lynn (Harriet “Shorty”) Kuhn of Dover and Mrs. Goldie “Susie” Young of New Philadelphia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Minnie Gano and 2 brothers-in-law Jim Young and Dave Smitley.Funeral services will be held on Monday November 17, 2003 at 1:30 PM at the Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Revs. Carlan Helgeson and Welton Stein officiating. Burial will take place at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM.
