Jerry White 68, of New Philadelphia died Friday June 15 at his home. He was born, January 18, 1944 at New Philadelphia.
Jerry met his future wife Karen McMath and the couple married in the Emanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia on June 15, 1968.
He was employed by Republic Steel as a steel worker for 38 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers local 1123. He was an avid Indians and Ohio State fan and enjoyed every opportunity to watch the games.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Jerry White II of New Philadelphia and daughter, Candy (Tom) Gopp of Dover; a sister, Olivia White, and a brother, Gary White, of New Philadelphia. In addition are his cousins, Sandy (Bob) Tedrick and Carol Fisher both of New Phila., and a brother-in-law, Eugene (Betty) McMath of Florida; special family friends, Debby Thompson and Ron (Jackie) Duvall both of Dover; and several nieces and a nephew.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Frances (Hines) White; three brothers, Paul Ray, Donald White, Lawrence White Jr.; two sisters, Betty White and Linda McCahill; and a nephew, Casey White.
Friends are invited to call Monday, June 18, 2012 from 5-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. Father Paul Johansen of Trinity Episcopal Church will lead a service celebrating Jerry’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
Following the Tuesday morning funeral service, friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be offered to share the memories of Jerry’s life.
